National Direct Access Entities (Accredited & Pipeline)
The National Treasury as the National Designated Authority (NDA) for the GCF oversees the accreditation of entities to the GCF under Direct category. In 2015, Kenya was among the first countries in the world whose institutions were accredited by the GCF Board for direct access.
The accredited Direct Access Entities include: –
- National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) – National
- Acumen Fund Inc. – Regional
Direct Access Entities in the Process of Accreditation include;
- Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB), Geothermal Development Company (GDC), African Centre of Technology Studies (ACTS), One Acre Fund, Green Earth Trust, East African Development Bank (EADB), Cooperative Bank of Kenya and the Kenya Red Cross.
International Accredited Entities
International AEs can include UN agencies, multilateral development banks, international financial institutions and regional institutions. GCF considers these organizations to have the wide reach and expertise to handle a variety of climate change issues, including ones that cross borders and thematic areas. International AEs do not need to be nominated by developing country NDAs.
